Promoting a business online can be a real pain in the butt, but there are more advantages today than ever before. When my fiance and I decided to start a website, it was originally only meant to be a discussion forum. But when we decided to branch out and start making tee shirts, we suddenly realized that we would have to start promoting our budding business.
Our first step was to create a shop front to display our goods. On the internet, presentation is everything. Once our product was set up and looked good, we began contacting similar sites to set up a link exchange program- they put our link their site, we put their link on ours. It got us a lot of hits on sites like Google.
We also used UK business email lists for direct marketing.
The most beneficial advertisement technique was by far social networks like Facebook and Myspace. We get comments daily about our much people like our line of shirts, and new members out the wazoo for our discussion forum. The internet provides you with a ton of promotional options - utilize them! |
